A Bird in a Flowering Tree — Painted by the Young Prince of Ghanerao

A striking black-and-grey bird perched in a tufted flowering tree, painted around 1720 and inscribed as the work of the young prince Pratap Singh of Ghanerao — a rare survival by a princely amateur rather than a court professional. The inscription along the top names him directly, a small window onto the private artistry of a Marwar noble house. A restored museum folio, archivally reproduced.
