Painted at Faizabad in Awadh around 1750, this scene locks two buffalo mid-collision as herders scramble at the edges, the whole set against a soft rolling landscape. The Faizabad school brought a fine naturalist's eye to animal subjects like this contest of brute strength. A faithfully restored folio, archivally reproduced.
