Ghari Wall Clock — Hindustani Hours of Day & Night

Before minutes and hours, Hindustan kept time in ghari. The day and night were divided into 60 ghari of 24 minutes each, gathered into eight pahar of three hours. This clock brings that old rhythm back to the wall, alongside the hours you already live by.

How to read it
• Red ring by day, blue ring by night. The hour hand points to the ghari and the pahar at once — Pehla Pahar, Dopahar, Sehpahar and Sanjh through the day; the four watches of the night after dark.
• Red numerals count the day's ghari (1–30), blue numerals the night's (31–60).
• A sun marks midday, a crescent marks midnight; rising and setting suns sit either side of the 6.
• The inner ring and the minute hand keep ordinary clock time.

The ghari here is standardised to a 6 AM sunrise, the way a modern clock keeps standard rather than solar time.
