Mashru — Ikat Stripe Wide-Leg Trousers

Stripes ran through the Mughal court wardrobe, in sashes, turbans and the silks of court dress. Mashru, a striped satin often broken with ikat dyed into the threads before weaving, carried that look across India.

Mashru keeps the stripe: burgundy bands of feathered gold lozenges, ribbons of saffron and a scatter of red seed dots on ivory cotton.

• All-over print: the design is printed onto the cotton, then cut and sewn, so the pattern runs from waistband to hem
• 95% cotton, 5% elastane, 8.85 oz./yd.² (300 g/m²): a heavyweight cotton with a little stretch and a medium-soft feel
• Relaxed wide leg with an elastic, adjustable waistband and side pockets

Care

• Wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle; do not bleach
• Tumble dry low or hang dry; do not iron directly on the print
• Printed cotton has a soft matte finish, so colours read slightly more muted than on screen
