About the piece Scroll ↓

Shirin Visits Farhad on Mount Bisitun — a Qajar-era painting, Iran, late eighteenth to nineteenth century.

The romance of Khusraw and Shirin, with the sculptor Farhad as tragic rival, is one of the five great poems of Nizami’s Khamsa.

Qajar painting — the courtly art of Iran in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries — is celebrated for its life-size royal portraiture, rose-and-nightingale panels and richly patterned textiles rendered in deep lacquered colour. It marks the moment Persian painting moved from the manuscript page to the grand painted canvas.

Carefully restored from a high-resolution archival image and printed as a museum-quality matted framed poster on enhanced matte art paper, or as a fine art paper print. Each piece is produced to order.

“This print was a surprise to me, it looks totally 3D… the flowers pop out of the canvas which I know is flat.”
