An imperial folio from the royal Padshahnama: the emperor Shah Jahan enters his palace at Burhanpur in stately procession, mounted on an elephant, attendants and standard-bearers around him. The composition is the densely-figured, jewel-toned style of the great mid-seventeenth-century Mughal manuscripts.

From the imperial Padshahnama. Restored from the museum archives by Aurah Living.
