About the piece Scroll ↓

A vivid late-sixteenth-century imperial Mughal manuscript folio: a royal couple seated together on a colorfully tiled dais in a private chamber, attendants and musicians gathered in dense tiered groups around them, courtly figures bringing food and offerings on the lower terrace. Persian text in nasta'liq frames the painting above. The composition is the dynamic, multi-figure style perfected by Akbar's master atelier for the great illustrated Persianate epics.

An imperial Mughal manuscript folio, ca. 1590. Restored from the museum archives by Aurah Living.

Printed on premium matte paper, finished within a slim wooden frame with cream mat. Available in Black, Red Oak, and White frames.
