About the piece Scroll ↓

A commemorative portrait from the Kotah atelier, painted around 1860, showing Maharao Ram Singh I of Kotah driving his spear into a charging tiger from the back of his elephant. Kotah's workshop was famed above all others in Rajasthan for its exuberant, densely observed shikar (hunting) scenes set in the kingdom's thick jungle reserves — a tradition this folio carries at full pitch. A restored museum folio, archivally reproduced.

“This print was a surprise to me, it looks totally 3D… the flowers pop out of the canvas which I know is flat.”
