From the Baburnama (the memoir of the first Mughal emperor): Babur is entertained by his younger half-brother Jahangir Mirza at Ghazni, the camp pitched on a hillside above a green valley. Attendants carry trays of food and wine, horses are led to drink at a stream, and groups of warriors converse in tents — the convivial machinery of an early-Mughal princely encampment captured in remarkable detail.

A late-sixteenth-century imperial Mughal Baburnama folio. Restored from the museum archives by Aurah Living.
