Tabriz Dawn — Heriz Medallion Persian Area Rug

A bold, many-pointed medallion with a sky-blue heart sits on an ivory field, framed by angular vines and an olive border of turtle palmettes.

Tabriz Dawn follows the carpets of Heriz, a cluster of mountain villages northeast of Tabriz in northwest Iran. Heriz weavers worked from memory rather than drawn patterns, which is why their designs are angular and geometric: a large stepped medallion, strong corner pieces and stylised vines drawn in straight lines and steps. From the late 19th century these rugs became prized in Europe and America for their bold scale and toughness.

We softened the classic palette into faded coral, powder blue, saffron and olive on ivory, so the rug has the gentle, sun-washed look of an old Heriz that has spent decades in a bright room.
