The lotus mandala carries centuries of meaning in Mughal art and South Asian craft. Artisans carved it into palace floors, painted it into the margins of imperial manuscripts, and set it in stone across the archways of royal gardens. It was a symbol of completeness — the belief that beauty does not arrive all at once, but reveals itself gradually, each layer richer than the last.
