Emperor Jahangir, the great Mughal connoisseur of European art, is shown haloed in a jharokha-style bust portrait, raising a small picture of the Madonna — who is herself crowned with a halo, so that sovereign and sacred image mirror one another. Painted in the imperial atelier after Christian engravings brought to court by Jesuit missionaries and attributed to the master Abul Hasan, it is among the most striking images of Mughal cosmopolitanism.

An early-seventeenth-century Mughal album portrait, c. 1610–20. Restored from the museum archives by Aurah Living.

Printed on premium matte paper, finished within a slim wooden frame with cream mat. Available in Black, Red Oak, and White frames.
