About the piece Scroll ↓

Gul-buta, the small flowering plant, was a favourite repeat of Mughal textiles: single blooms set in rows across the ground, each one complete in itself. This runner lines up roses, peonies, poppies and starry sprays on a rich chocolate ground, edged with a crimson and gold border of trailing vines.

Warm and quietly ornamental, it works on bare wood or over a plain cloth, from weeknight suppers to autumn and holiday tables.

“This print was a surprise to me, it looks totally 3D… the flowers pop out of the canvas which I know is flat.”
