Ruler of Bijapur, sixth ruler of the Deccan kingdom (r. 1580-1627).

Painted by Hashim, ca. 1620 (verso 1534+), this folio reflects the disciplined elegance of Mughal court painting — illuminated cream margins inhabited by red and gold blooms, the central image framed in calligraphic gold, every detail attended to in the courtly mode.

The folio belongs to the Shah Jahan Album, the most ambitious imperial album ever assembled by the Mughal court — commissioned to honour the painters and calligraphers of his father Jahangir's atelier.
