Pietra Dura — Inlaid Vine Wide-Leg Trousers

At the great Mughal tombs, flowers are not painted onto the marble but set into it: pietra dura, slivers of coloured stone cut and fitted into a single climbing vine.

One such vine climbs down the outer side of each leg of this soft beige trouser, from waistband to hem, in burgundy flowers and leaves with golden centres, under a burgundy waistband.

• All-over print: the design is printed onto the cotton, then cut and sewn, so the pattern runs from waistband to hem
• 95% cotton, 5% elastane, 8.85 oz./yd.² (300 g/m²): a heavyweight cotton with a little stretch and a medium-soft feel
• Relaxed wide leg with an elastic, adjustable waistband and side pockets

Care

• Wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle; do not bleach
• Tumble dry low or hang dry; do not iron directly on the print
• Printed cotton has a soft matte finish, so colours read slightly more muted than on screen
